The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. The exact methods of spread and contraction are not yet known in full. The state of medical knowledge is evolving, but the virus is believed to spread by person-to-person contact, by contact with contaminated surfaces and objects, and even by air. People reportedly can be infected and show no symptoms and there is a high risk of spread wherever people come together. In consideration of attending the Stratford Playhouse performances, I, on behalf of myself, my spouse, my minor child(ren), my heirs, assigns, personal representatives and estate hereby agree as follows: I have read and understood the above warning concerning COVID-19. I hereby choose to accept the risk of contracting COVID-19 for myself and my minor child(ren). I hereby agree to fully and forever release, waive, and discharge the Stratford Playhouse Booster Club, its volunteers, members, officers, directors, assigns, and other representatives (collectively, the “Released Parties”), from any and all claims, actions, causes of action, demands, charges, liability, suits, judgments, and damages (including without limitation actual, exemplary and punitive), known or unknown, foreseen or unforeseen, arising out of or related to exposure, infection, and/or spread of COVID-19. I understand and agree that this release, waiver, and discharge means that I give up, on behalf of myself, and my minor child(ren), any right to bring any claims against the Released Parties arising out of or related to exposure, infection, and/or spread of COVID-19, including without limitation claims for personal injuries, death, disease or property losses, or any other loss. THE RELEASE PROVIDED FOR IN THIS PARAGRAPH EXPRESSLY INCLUDES ANY NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF THE RELEASED PARTIES. I, on behalf of myself, my spouse, my minor child(ren), my heirs, assigns, personal representatives, and estate, further agree to defend, hold harmless, and indemnify the Released Parties from any and all claims, actions, causes of action, demands, charges, liability, suits, judgments, damages, costs, and expenses arising out of or related to exposure, infection, and/or spread of COVID-19 that is brought by, through, or under me, my spouse, or my minor child(ren). THE INDEMNITY PROVIDED FOR IN THIS PARAGRAPH EXPRESSLY INCLUDES ANY NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF THE RELEASED PARTIES.

SHS Playhouse 2021 Scholarship application is now open.

2021 Playhouse Scholarship Applications is due on APRIL 9, 2021 at 6:00 PM SHARP! (Delivery Location is on application)

UPDATE: When submitting your scholarship application you do not need to send in test scores.  We followed instructions from years past and as many colleges are test options we realize that students may not have scores to share. This is an oversight and we are sorry.

The Playhouse is very blessed to have the opportunity to honor our students through scholarships solely funded by the Stratford Playhouse Booster Club. The Playhouse Booster Club offers scholarship opportunities to graduating seniors and one for rising sophomore, junior, or senior.

This year we are honored to announce that the Pillar of the Playhouse Scholarship will be renamed the Jennie Vought Baker Pillar of the Playhouse Scholarship. Jennie Baker was an extraordinary person. She was a leader in the Playhouse for many years and well beyond after her three children, Graham, Leslie, and of course our own, Marcie Baker, graduated. Jennie was also a community leader giving back to many organizations while being an amazing mother, wife, and dear friend. We are so proud to honor her in this way.

As chair of this committee, I am very happy to answer any questions you may have. Please make sure you follow the instructions and provide the materials requested.

This year the Playhouse has renamed the “Pillars of the Playhouse” scholarship to the “Jennie Vought Baker Pillars of the Playhouse” scholarship.   Jennie passed away this past August and it has been a huge loss for the Stratford Theatre community.  She was a Booster Club President for 2 years, Costume Mom and Head of the Scholarship Committee from its foundation until her health would no longer allow her to do so last year.  Jennie exemplified the term Pillar.  Her three children were very involved in the theatre and therefore, so was Jennie.  She was a leader, friend, volunteer, and mentor extraordinaire who stayed involved well after her kids graduated. Her contribution to mentoring the costume heads has made it what it is today, including winning the Tommy Tune the last 2 years. Jennie has helped make the Playhouse what it is today because of her leadership, commitment, and selfless service.

During the Gala, we will call attention to our scholarship drive and highlight those who have already donated! Your donation will benefit all six student scholarships, including our newly named Jennie Baker Pillars of the Playhouse scholarship:

Bernard and Carolyn Prudhomme Memorial Performance Scholarship
Michael Sanchez Technical Memorial Scholarship
Jennie Baker Memorial Pillars of the Playhouse Scholarship
Suzanne Reynolds Memorial Scholarship
Tim Driscoll Memorial Scholarship
Bernard and Carolyn Prudhomme Memorial Student Orchestra Scholarship.
Scholarship donations: e.givesmart.com/p/:h_iVzjXaup8/e/j2v/i/_Donate

Kathy Goss, Scholarship Committee Chair will send out
additional information and details this week.

THANK YOU and Congratulations to the 2020-21 Thespian Officers
Saying a huge public thank you to the outgoing 2020-21 Thespian officer board (Ryan McCall, Reese Leif, Kori Spaulding, Caroline Greebon, Lauren Dietert, Clara Creed, Cameron Majewski, and Anna Rigo). Many people do not realize that the Thespian officers are responsible for choosing, choreographing, arranging, rehearsing, communicating about, and directing all the grade level numbers for Gala. They plan for this event all year, starting in the fall, and they always put on a great show (even with one less week of rehearsal this year due to the weather). They are also responsible for running the show the night of of Gala and making sure people are cued, the music is in the right format and ready to be played, and all the equipment is in all the right places (and this year had the added responsibility of sanitizing microphones…). It’s been a crazy year for everyone, and many of the Thespian activities and responsibilities over this entire year had to be re-imagined to suit the times. Bravo to all of them! Great job!
Please also help us congratulated the 2021-2022 Thespian Officers
From Left to Right – Travis Britt, Nic Rhew, Clara Creed, Lauren Dietert,
Evi Garcia, Anna Rigo, and Cameron Majewski
